Coffee

This weekend was amazing…but also exhausting.

For an introvert like me, that much social contact in that short a time just wears me out.  So today, I’m going to sit back, enjoy a whole pot of coffee and just chill with the critters in the back yard.

Oh, and work on drawing a bunch of visual notes from the Quitter Conference for Wednesday’s post.

In the meantime, thinking of coffee reminds me of an amusing list that a friend and I were putting together last week…

The worst coffee habits

(well, at least the worst ones we could think of during a limited time and without the benefit of enough coffee…and in no particular order)

  • Using “seasoned” cups at work (for you stay-at-home folks, that’s code for “never washing your cup”)
  • Reheating and drinking yesterday’s coffee
  • Pouring “used” coffee back in the pot
  • Running two cups from a single K-cup
  • Breaking several k-cups open and dumping them into a regular drip coffee maker
  • Running the burr-grinder at 5AM

Will you help add to the list?

What’s the worst thing you’ve seen people do to coffee?  Leave a comment…

  1. How about drinking TWO double espressos, and a grande “black eye”, then NOT waiting for your caffeine high to settle down a few hours before talking to someone?

    1. Christine

Heh…that sounds more like the best thing you could do to coffee!

  2. As a purest, I like my coffee strong and black. It makes me a little sad to see people adding all tha stuff to it. One of my personal coffee abuses is NOT reheating yet still drinking yesterday’s coffee. ::insert yewwwww here::

    1. Christine

yewwwwwww is right. I’ve accidentally done that when I forgot to take a cup downstairs, and then run straight for the toothbrush.

  3. I love it. Great post. Also: I was the cause of ScottyDog’s caffine overload. I bought him all that coffee and then we sat and drank it all for an hour. It was awesome!

    1. Christine

Someone has to do it, Barry! It sounds awesome, indeed.

  4. Am not a coffee person 🙁 🙁 but a huge green tea fan 🙂 . The worse habit is re-using a used tea-bag..fetched from places i’d rather not mention lol.

    1. Christine

Oh, Ngina…yes! That is nasty, too!!

Umm, I may admit to occasionally using a paper towel when I have run out of filters. But I don’t consider myself a coffee addict. No not at all. I simply can’t relate to any of the other items on the list, well, maybe 1. Now that I think about it maybe 2, but since I leave a continuous pot on, does it really count as yesterday’s coffee?

I wouldn’t know what a K-Cup is, are those the little worthless samples of coffee? Sort of the LifeSaver candy of the coffee world? Like Brill Cream when only a little dab will do you? I will say that just like the roll of LiveSavers, it does take 10 to fill me up.

    Great list

    1. Christine

Yeah, not an addict at all (I’ve done the paper towel thing too!)

K-cups are the things at corporate…the pods that go in the Kuerig machines. And yeah, it takes far too many of them to constitute a proper morning of coffee.

  6. lol… good stuff Christine!

My daughters tell the story of the bean grinder running at an unusually early morning hour (yea, I’m a morning guy!). Neither one of them particularly loves the morning… hee hee!!

    1. Christine

Mine too…When I have to run it at 5, I pick it up off the counter, wrap it in an old towel and hug it so it makes a little less noise than when it’s on the counter. I’m nice like that! 😉

  7. Thea Nelson

I piggy-back on my husband’s coffee k-cup! Maybe it’s because I’m cheap and maybe it’s because I like weak coffee–but I brew his first (regular strength) and then I reuse it for my cup! 🙂

And I love that you’re an introvert too! I hear ya. As great as it was, I needed that nice, quiet drive home after Killer Tribes Conference. After GodBreathed, I’ll probably hole up in a cave for about a week! 😉

    1. Christine

      You LIKE weak coffee? Hmmm…..

After GodBreathed, you will deserve a week in a cave. Or at least a nice cozy cabin in the woods!

  8. Not a coffee drinker, so I can’t offer any weird suggestions! 🙂

You’ve inspired me to try some visual notes. I am NOT an artist, so it’s really challenging me, but I loved the ones you put together for Killer Tribes. Can’t wait to see what yours look like.

It was so great to see you, even though we didn’t get to spend too much time together. Let’s chat soon!

The weekend was such a whirlwind, I’m STILL catching my breath! It was SO good to see you, but not nearly enough time. Call me anytime you get stuck in traffic…I make commutes fun! (think that should be my new tagline??)

I’m not an artist at all either…here’s the post that made me feel like I could do the KT ones: http://www.austinkleon.com/2010/11/26/tedmed-notebook-illustrations/
