Piecaken

I broke up with Resistance.

He’s trying hard to win me back.  Sympathy didn’t work, so now he’s tempting me with Piecaken.

Pie + Cake = Piecaken

Everyone in my house is trying to watch what they eat.

I need to be writing.

But I love to bake.

I have several projects that are behind schedule.  Guest posts for people that are important to me about causes that are important to me.  Work to be done to put food on the table and gas in the car and college money in the bank.

But all I can think about is Piecaken.

I WANT TO MAKE A PIECAKEN!!!

Here’s the deal:

  • You bake a pie. A nice, yummy old-fashioned kid of pie with a crust on top.  Pretty much any flavor of pie you can think of.
  • You get out the biggest darn springform cake pan you can find.
  • You make cake batter.  Any color or flavor you can think of.
  • You nestle the pie within the batter
  • You bake the cake
  • You coat the cake in icin’
  • You get this:  (in theory)

What’s the ideal flavor combination?  Leave a comment…

P.S.  I did NOT make this amazing thing of beauty!  Photo credit: Ludie Cochrane.

P.P.S  This is why I’m not on Pinterest yet.  I would never get anything done.  Ever.

One day I will have to try this as well. It’s like a car accident that I can’t look away from. Saw this also on a food tv special. Seems so wrong, but I can’t stop doing flavor combos in my head.

And no worries, I pinned it to Pinterest for you. Yes, that site is addicting. I’m all in!

Yeah, I could spend all day coming up with options! Can’t. Stop. Thinking. About. Piecaken!

This is the second piecaken I’ve seen on a non-food blog. It looks like too much of an overload for me.

Maybe I should convert to a food blog… I could put up a photo of the ribs I burned last night, too? Call it “The ADD Chef”

hmm, I think a peach pie, vanilla cake, raspberry icing.

Custard pie baked into carrot cake topped with cream cheese icing.

Boston Creme Pie baked into devils food cake with chocolate icing.

Must stop drooling and go home and have a healthy dinner. :0)

Excellent call on the carrot cake…I was trying to figure out what could go with one of those, but i kept getting stuck in the fruits!

As for healthy dinner…yeah, a pot of chicken soup is on the stove right now. Not nearly as decadent.

  4. Wow! This the first I’ve ever heard of this kind of dessert! Must have been invented by the same stoners that invented Turduken.

I’d personally go for blueberry pie covered by vanilla cake, buttercream frosting.
Although, I’d settle for any one of the three right now!

I won’t be able to rest knowing that such delicacies exist!

I’ve always been fascinated by Turducken, but it seemed so inaccessible to a kitchen hack like me. Piecaken, while still elaborate, at least seems like something I could actually make. Or die trying.

  5. I so need to try this sometime! I’m sure it tastes awesome. It looks awesome!! Have you made it yet? I’m not on Pintrest. Maybe I should be.

I haven’t tried making it yet, Erin, but I think it’s coming soon. My elder daughter is already running more to prepare for the calories.
